The Fourth of July

We got up early on the 4th of July this year. We got to the church at about 7:40am. The scouts did a brief flag ceremony. After the ceremony there was a bike parade for the kids. They got to show off their patriotically decorated bikes. Jake was really excited to ride his new Green Machine. Each child got a huge pixie stick and medal for their efforts.

After the bike parade and blessing on the food we all headed inside for the pancake breakfast. About half an hour into breakfast they started the Girls Camp Fundraiser Auction. Over $600 was raised to help pay for Girls Camp. The young women in the ward (aged 12 to 18) did face painting for the children. Brealle got to decorate both Daesha's and Clarris' face.

Nathan had to spend the rest of the day studying. His final, oral exam is this coming Thursday. He got home around 7pm and we had a family BBQ complete with watermelon. Afterward, we drove over to Schertz to watch the fireworks. I didn't get any pictures, but they were beautiful. All in all, a good day! I love celebrating our great nation.
